Your success is our success

At the North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC), we work to dismantle the barriers to natural refrigerants for food retailers. As an unbiased 501c3 nonprofit organization, everything we do is for the grocery refrigeration industry, the planet, and you. How do we measure success? Your success is our success.

Unlike other organizations, our membership’s value comes from the intangible. Sure, you’ll get event discounts, recognition on our website, valuable education, legislative updates, and more (see the full list here). But the true value comes from being a part of the leading community of stakeholders collectively making progress for the entire industry.

Bridging the Industry

NASRC is the common ground for commercial refrigeration, policy, energy, environment, and education stakeholders. We serve as a bridge for leaders from across industries to collaborate to build a sustainable future for refrigeration together.

And NASRC members are in good company: our membership network represents 160+ companies from across North America, including over 55,000 food retail locations as well as service contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, consultants, engineering firms, utilities, trade associations, nonprofits, and schools.

Your Membership’s Impact

Our members are the organization’s backbone; we rely on them to help us make change. Thanks to their support, we can offer free resources like technician training, information on funding for natural refrigerants, research reports, policy information, and more.

Our members create change by actively contributing their time and expertise to benefit the industry and the environment. They’re at the core of our training events, curriculum, and roundtables.

Made Possible by Our Members

  • A refrigerant carbon financing pilot program in partnership with Therm that provided funding for five grocery locations and kickstarted the national market for refrigerant carbon credits

  • Led the outreach, applications, and grant deliverables for $880,000 in funding during the initial CARB FRIP funding (2020) and helped secure $45M+ in renewed funding (2023)

  • Hosted the first-ever Natural Refrigerant Training Summit that convened industry leaders to network with and train refrigeration technicians

  • Developed CO2 curriculum for HVACR trade schools and community colleges in partnership with ESCO Group

  • Produced various educational content, including the Workforce Development report, Nat Ref Technology Library, the Refrigerant Transition Hub, fact sheets, case studies, webinars and more

Be a Changemaker

Amidst growing corporate climate commitments and regulatory requirements, the industry is shifting towards climate-friendly and future-proof refrigerants.

You don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to help your organization navigate that transition and address the challenges to natural refrigerants by developing funding, sharing knowledge, and building a trained technician workforce.
